About

SDT CrestSigma Delta Tau (ΣΔΤ), a National Sorority for college women, was founded at Cornell University on March 25, 1917.  SDT is a member of the National Panhellenic Conference and has over 40,000 alumnae from over ninety college campuses across the United States and Canada.

Since membership in Sigma Delta Tau is a lifetime association, it not only enhances each member's undergraduate years on campus, but will also contribute to her happiness as an alumna. Friendships and networking opportunities will extend throughout each sister’s lifetime!

The purpose of our sorority is diverse and far reaching: to provide an extended family relationship – the home away from home - on campus, to furnish guidance for moral and ethical growth, to stimulate intellectual vitality and academic excellence and to extend opportunities for leadership, community and philanthropic endeavors and social activities.  The mission of Sigma Delta Tau is to enrich the college experience of women of similar ideals, to build lasting friendships, and to foster personal growth.  Sigma Delta Tau shall encourage each member to reach her fullest potential by providing intellectual, philanthropic, leadership, and social opportunities within the framework of mutual respect and high ethical standards.

Sigma Delta Tau offers many diverse opportunities to become involved in the chapter and on campus.  Our educational programming, beginning with the new member program, covers a variety of topics including: women’s health issues, alcohol awareness, time management, academic skills and social issues.  Through SDΤ, members can also become involved in campus opportunities, such as: intramural sports, homecoming activities, leadership in College Panhellenic, as well as supporting the local community through philanthropic efforts.

Mission Statement

"It shall be the purpose of this fraternal organization to form a close social and fraternal union of those of similar ideals and to foster, maintain and instill such ideals in the hearts of its members as will result in actions worthy of the highest precepts of true womanhood, democracy and humanity."
